Jenna Leving is a PhD candidate at The University of Chicago in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. Her interests include 20th century and contemporary Caribbean literatures and cultures, and questions of diaspora and exile. In 2008, Jenna received a Tinker Field Research Grant to conduct research in Havana for a project entitled, “The Self-Image of the Revolution in the Literature of the Cuban Diaspora,” where she studied the critical reception on the island of literature produced by the Cuban diaspora in the 1990’s. This project related to her broader research interest in the representation of the Cuban Revolution in the literary production on and off the island.
