Glenda Alicia Leung is pursuing her PhD in Linguistics (funded by the German Academic Exchange Service) at the University of Freiburg, Germany. She holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from Ball State University, Indiana, USA and a BA in English from the University of Florida, USA. In her MA thesis, she examined how Afro-Trinidadian musicians assert their identity by incorporating Jamaican Creole English features into their performances. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Glenda is currently working on her dissertation, “A Sociophonetic Analysis of Vowels in Trinidadian English” and expects to graduate in 2011.
