Schuyler K. Esprit - University of Maryland, College Park

Schuyler Esprit is a PhD candidate in English at University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests include Anglophone and Francophone postcolonial studies, with a focus on the Caribbean, as well as critical theory. Her work focuses on the cross-cultural networks emerging from contemporary patterns of migration and return, particularly within the Caribbean literary marketplace. In her dissertation, “Occasions for Reading: Literary Encounters and the Making of the West Indies,” she considers the politics, ethics and aesthetics associated with the act of reading Caribbean literary texts within the region and across its diaspora.
