Theo D’haen


Theo D’haen (Antwerp, 1950) Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Leuven (2002-), Chair of English and American Literature at Leyden (1987-2005), Professor of English Literature at Utrecht (1978-1986). Visiting Professor at the Sorbonne III (2004) and Harvard (2007). PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Recent book-length publications in English include: Contemporary American Crime Writing (Palgrave, 2001), Configuring Romanticism (Rodopi, 2003), How Far is America From Here? (Rodopi, 2005), and Cultural Identity and Postmodern Writing (Rodopi, 2006). Published some 50 books, as author, co-author, editor, or co-editor, and some 150 articles. Editor-in-chief of the European Review. Editor of various scholarly series, and advisory editor to several journals, in the fields of Comparative Literature, English and American Literature, and Dutch Literature. Served on the boards of, and organized world congresses for, the International Comparative Literature Association and the International American Studies Association. Currently President of FILLM.
