Johanna X.K. Garvey - Fairfield University

Johanna X. K. Garvey is an Associate Professor of English at Fairfield University, where she is Director of the Women’s Studies Program and faculty in the Program in Black Studies. Her teaching and research interests include African American fiction, gender and sexuality studies, international women’s fiction, and studies in the African Diaspora. She is completing a book on contemporary Caribbean women writers and working on a book manuscript on women writers and New York City. She has published articles on Ann Petry, Maryse Condé, Patricia Powell, Shani Mootoo, Dionne Brand, Michelle Cliff, and others.
